Occupancy Format

The API describes the guests of a search or booking in one string, the occupancy parameter. The same format is used in responses.

Format

  • Each guest is a letter: A for an adult, C followed by the age for a child.
  • Guests in the same room are separated by - (dash).
  • Rooms are separated by | (pipe). Rooms are numbered in the order they appear.
A-A-C9|A-C7-C4

Examples

  • A: one room, one adult
  • A-A: one room, two adults
  • A-A-C0: one room, two adults and an infant (under 1 year)
  • A-A-C8: one room, two adults and a child of 8
  • A-A-C11-C15: one room, two adults and two children of 11 and 15
  • A-A-C9|A-C7-C4: two rooms; the first with two adults and a child of 9, the second with one adult and two children of 7 and 4

Rules

  • Write the letters in uppercase.
  • Every room needs at least one adult.
  • Every child needs an age, from 0 to 17.
  • Adult ages (for example A35) are optional and not supported for every hotel. We recommend sending A without an age.
  • The API has no fixed maximum for rooms or guests. Each room's capacity is set by the hotel; rooms that can't hold the requested guests return no options.

When you book, list the guests in the same order as the occupancy: the guests of room 1 first, in the order of their letters, then room 2, and so on.
